
About Chris
Chris Cosgrove was a member of Golf Company located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. He was serving with Charlie Company from Connecticut when he was deployed in 2006 to Fallujah, Iraq. On October 1st, 2006 Chris was killed by a suicide car bomber at an entry control point in Fallujah. Chris was less than one week away from leaving Iraq to begin his journey home.
Chris graduated in 2001 from Whippany Park High School in New Jersey. In 2005 he graduated from Monmouth University with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in April of his junior year at Monmouth University and graduated from boot camp at Parris Island, SC in August 2004. Upon graduating from Monmouth University, Chris immediately attended School of Infantry training at Camp Geiger, NC.
Chris was engaged to be married on August 10th, 2007
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Slattery Detachment 206 in Whippany, NJ. While serving in Iraq, Chris was nominated and accepted to serve as the Marine Corps League Junior Vice-Commandant upon his return home.
Chris lived with his Mom, Charlene, and step-father, Art, in the Cedar Knolls section of Hanover Township.
Our Mission
The mission of Legacy Of A Hero The Lance Corporal Chris Cosgrove III Foundation, Inc., is to provide financial support to scholarships and individuals or their families who are in need as a result of their service to our country while in the U.S. military, particularly the US Marine Corps and Police, Fire and other First Responders in the NY, NJ, PA and CT areas


Our Vision
Our vision is that the brave men and women of the armed services, police, fire fighters and first responders who have sacrificed so much for us will always have the resources and support they need.
To that end, our organization will raise and provide funds to individuals and other non -profit organizations who embody our mission and identify individuals in need or assisting organizations who embody our mission

Provide an annual donation to the Whippany Park High School Lance Corporal Chris Cosgrove III Scholarship fund

Provide an annual donation to the Monmouth University Legacy of a Hero The L/Cpl Chris Cosgrove III Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

Provide donations to events benefiting wounded military veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center or any other military hospital

Provide donations to events benefiting returning U.S. military veterans acknowledging their sacrifice to our nation during their military service

Provide donations to a First Responders in need of financial assistance as a result of the actions in their service
